Joining the Dots for 21st Century Leadership

The greatest challenges facing global leaders and the skills needed for effective leadership in the modern world are examined in a series of new reports published today by a network of international experts.

The reports span geopolitics, business and finance, the sciences, society and faith. This work is part of the global leadership programme inspired by the legacy of Winston Churchill. Read the full press release here.

Foreword by The Rt Hon The Lord Robertson KT GCMG, Chair of the Churchill 21st Century Statesmanship Global Leaders Programme:

'In 1908 Winston Churchill said “What is the use of living, if it be not to strive for noble causes and to make this muddled world a better place for those who live in it after we are gone?”

In this spirit I commend these reports and hope that they are read far and wide.  They have been written by an insightful group of men and women who bring a complement of experience, fresh thinking and diverse views. Exactly the sort of wise counsel that Winston Churchill himself would have sought.

Global leaders today face a complex web of problems and challenges including environmental change; war and terror; mass migration; disruptive new technologies; and less deferential populations. These, and more, are all explored in the papers published today.

The Churchill 21st century leadership programme has two core aims: to identify and build a better understanding of the greatest challenges facing the world today; and to equip future generations with the skills required for modern leadership. By such means we will, in Churchill’s words, ‘make this muddled world a better place’.
